Actress Bipasha talks about global warming
I’m glad IIFA and the Indian film fraternity are being such an enthusiastic supporter of the Global Cool project. Global warming is a serious concern and I hope the world’s leaders start to take notice of it.I met Sienna Miller on her trip to India. I was aware of the issues, but Sienna explained to me that India was one the countries in the direct path of an impending storm. Since India is an agricultural economy, climate change can have disastrous consequences on our lives.Global warming will also see oceans rising and coastal areas flooding. We have enough of that already.
Every year, people lose their lives in cyclones and floods. And global warming is only going to make that worse.Climate change isn’t as benign as it sounds. Think of the droughts and famines that India has faced so often. Global warming will make them a recurring feature. We have a country that lives below poverty lines defined by every authority on the planet. We can hardly afford to wait to see more people die of hunger.India has a large population and our cities expend large amounts of carbon into the air. There are simple ways to reduce this. It makes perfect sense as well. There are very few resources available to us. The less we use, the better it is for the environment. The more we economize the more we will have left in the future.
In the movies, it’s always the brave fighting heroes who are called on to save the planet. But in reality, the battle for the planet will be won by ordinary people who quietly conserve fossil fuels and electricity.

Sushmita Sen tells about Sholay remake
Mumbai: For someone as restless in spirit and body as Sushmita Sen, the deathly stillness of her character in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sholay’ remake was a revelation.”I virtually had to tie myself down. It’s not that I don’t speak in ‘Sholay’. But I say whatever I’ve to through my eyes. I’ve more still moments in this film than in any other cinema that I’ve done. It’s the quietest character I’ve ever played,” Sushmita told IANS.”It’s not that my character Durga doesn’t speak. It’s that inner tranquillity. And hats off to Ramu for signing someone with a strong image like me to play someone like Durga … it requires guts and hindsight. Ramu has both,” she adds.Sushmita rewinds to Jaya Bachchan who played Radha in Ramesh Sippy’s “Sholay”.”It was one of the most difficult roles in ‘Sholay’. Jayaji was fabulous. Very few people in our cinema understand the sounds of silences. But let me tell you, she played Radha. I play Durga.
She was very passive. I’m very aggressive,” the actress said. The Bollywood diva is a huge fan of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and is elated about sharing screen space with him.”I’ve stood in the same frame as Mohanlal. I’m honoured. To watch him perform is to watch a whole textbook on Indian cinema unfold in front of your eyes. He’s that brilliant.”The “Sholay” remake is called “Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag” as Sasha Sippy, the grandson of G.P. Sippy who produced the 1970s hit, had problems with Varma releasing his film with the word ‘Sholay’ in its title.Sushmita is all praise for her co-star Prashant Raj. “He’s very good. In his very first film he has to stand next to stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal and Ajay Devgan. That isn’t easy.”Tell her she has a head-start of at least seven years over Prashant, and Sushmita laughs, “Trust me he looks really nice with me.”However, she has no scenes with Amitabh Bachchan who plays dacoit Babban Singh in the film.”Not this time. But we had lots of scenes together in two films we did earlier - ‘Hindustan Ki Kasam’ and ‘Aankhen’. In ‘Sholay’ we don’t come face to face at all.”

Abhi-Ash inspire film theme
Filmmaker Satya Prakash Mangtani, who is inspired by the Bachchan family, is all set to make a film based on the Abhi-Ash saga titled Kuch Na Kuch To Baat Hai. The film will revolve around real life characters based on Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Viveik Oberoi. The small budget film will star South actor Manie cast in the role of Abhishek. The heroine to play the role of Aishwarya is yet to be confirmed. “We are looking for a girl who has a close resemblance to Ash,” says writer-director Kumar Mangtani. The film will go on floors in September with a start-finish-schedule.
When asked what if the Bachchans raise an objection, the director says, “I have not projected the family in a cheap manner. I want to convey to the audience that one should not accept manglik or non-manglik beliefs. I have already written to Amitabh, asking for his permission, and am ready to show him the script before it goes on floors.” “In no way have I tried to tarnish their image. I have also created an element of suspense at the end of the film. Five songs for the film have already been recorded,” shares Kumar.

Hrithik Roshan to write the script for Krrish 2
Hrithik Roshan has earned largest of the applause for papa Roshan’s films and it is no unknown fact that he strives really hard for his dad’s movie. Determined to put in all of his effort Hrithik will be helping his dad while scripting for the sequel for Krrish. Rakesh Roshan was quoted saying, ‘’Hrithik has always taken a keen interest in scripting and has been an intrinsic part in the making of all my films. He will write the script of Krrish 2 along with me.’’ Looks like it won’t be far when Hrithik will become a director as skilled or more than dad Roshan.
