Bhumika Chawla marrige on Oct 25

Bhumika Chawla:After a three-year-romance, actress Bhumika Chawla and yoga expert Bharat Thakur, will get married on October 25.The marriage will be solemnised at a Madh island bungalow, followed by a reception in the evening at the Sun and Sand hotel in Juhu.

Bhumika is currently riding the crest of popularity in Telugu cinema, and has taken over the top a position there from yesterday’s leading actress Vijayshanti.She made a huge impact with her debut in ‘Tere Naam’ opposite Salman Khan. She was called the “Chunariya girl” after the popularity of one of the film’s songs.She was recently commended for her performance in ‘Gandhi My Father.’ Thakur has been a prominent yoga teacher.Talking excitedly over the phone from Hyderabad, Bhumika confirmed, “Yes, it’s true.. we met about three years ago at a party hosted by Salman Khan at the Vie Lounge. I can’t say that I fell in love with him right away but yes, I think he’s an absolute cuteheart.

“On being asked if her parents are okay with the marriage, she retorted, “Of course.. why shouldn’t they be?” Bhumika, who started off as a child model, laughs on being teased about Thakur, “Come on, I am not exactly a yoga freak.. but I could become one.”As for her plans after marriage, Bhumika stated that she would continue to act in films. Among the films she has signed up recently include an unusual subject - featuring only two characters - to be directed by E Niwas.

CHAK De INDIA Challenges DDLJ

CHAK DE INDIA has completed 50 days at the box office. What’s interesting though are the film’s collections in Mumbai city (excluding Thane). So far, in just 6 weeks, the film has netted 11.31 crores. The fun part comes form the fact that DDLJ, after 622 weeks in the running, has its total reading 11.72 crores from Mumbai (excluding Thane). In maximum fortnight’s time, CDI collections are bound to overtake what DDLJ has earned in over 10 years.

With rock steady collections since its release, the film is now confirmed blockbusters at the box office with collections promising to touch 60 crores mark in a week’s time. But I personally feel DDLJ was Awesome and CHAK DE cannot be compared with DDLJ. So what do you feel which one is the best CHAK DE or DDLJ.

Kissa Kiss Ka – Shilpa and Gere

A few months ago there was a big hype created when Richard Gere kissed Shilpa openlt in public at an Aids Awareness event in New Delhi. If people are thinking that the incident’s effect is over then be ready for a big shock. Shilpa was treated very harshly by a police officer at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. A court in Alwar dist of Rajasthan issued a ‘look-out notice’ for Shilpa at various airports. The notice said that the actress shouldn’t be allowed to leave the country till the Richard Gere-Shilpa Shetty case was over.

Shilpa appealed to the Supreme Court against this order and got permission to travel abroad. Shilpa was leaving for Germany for West End musical “Miss Bollywood when an immigration officer spoke very rudely to her.Her spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar said: “The immigration authorities at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport just seemed to refuse to take note of this clearance of Shilpa’s name by the Supreme Court.” Shilpa had to call her lawyer and sort out thing with the officer. Shilpa was very much upset with the whole incident and said it was unfair to treat her like a criminal in her own country. Now Shilpa is planning to take action against the immigration authorities for what she termed as offensive behavior. Well I feel this matter should be stopped here and the KISS ka issue should not be given so much of importance. Come on guys just stop this now…….

Aishwarya as Mumtaz

Aishwarya rai :Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley is going to play Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in his untitled film on Taj Mahal. Aishwarya Rai is playing Mumtaz opposite him. This film is going to be produced by Kingsley’s newly established SBK Pictures. The shoot of this film which will beshot in Agra, may start in the middle of 2008.

Aishwarya Rai seems have agreed to work with him on this project. Mr.Kingsley said “Aishwarya and I discuss about this film while we were shooting for “The Last Legion” last year. I and Aishwarya are playing Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal respectively.” He also said that his production company is working with a screenwriter on this project and he has clear idea on how to approach to this subject.

This is going to be the second time for Kingsley for playing and historical Indian character. Earlier he played Mahatma Gandhi in Richard Attenborough’s film “Gandhi” and won an Academy Award in the best actor category.

Abhishek Joins Aiswarya in Boston

The superstar couple seems to be much in love with each other. It has been just five months and the couple cannot live without each other. The Bachan couple has been spotted in Boston together, they are not even separable by their professional commitments. For the last few weeks Aish has been shooting in Boston for her movie ‘The Next Pink Panther’ while her better half was shooting in India. But Abhi made it point to meet his dear wife so he flew to Boston to meet her. The couple was spotted walking together hand-in-hand on the streets of Boston. Abhi also accompanied his wifey to the sets of the movie. Previously when the movie was being shot in Paris, even then he had joined Aish. These people seem to be inseparable.

Abhishek will soon resume work for his movie ‘Drona’ in Namibia and Aish will be busy with ‘Pink Panther’ till October. Aish plays the role of a criminal expert in the movie who helps the Inspector nab an elusive burglar. Back to Abhi missing his wife…………..hmmmmm did we ever think Abhi could be sooooooo Romantic?

Bollywood films are again in Russian homes

The Bollywood has now re-entered the Russian homes in the form of India TV channel after staying out of the silver screens for a long time. Russia’s largest producer of theme channels the Red Media group launched the paid cable TV channel last year which is devoted to Bollywood and it has already got a large number of viewership. The channel now bradcasts 24 hours a day.”Its audience is currently estimated at 5.5 million viewers and has the potential to grow tenfold to 50 million,” says India TV channel’s editor-in-chief Yuri podstolnikov. According to him the only factor that slows down the growth is that up till now only about 15% of the country’s households have the required equipment to receive cable TV channels. The channel is said to be extremely popular among the older generation. A public opinion survey by a group reveals that about 78% of the total viewership of the India TV channel is made up of women in 16 to 54 age group middle class people, who live in cities of 1 lakh to 1 million population.During the soviet era, then Bollywood films used to draw 40 to 63 million viewers to movie theatres across the country. By the time the releases were stopped, more than 900 Indian films were released in dubbed VHs and DVD formats in the country.
