  • Malaika Arora Khan referred as bunny rabbit?

Considering how long Malaika Arora Khan has been burning up the big screen, who would have thought she was once a gawky schoolgirl? From a rather quiet start, the diva slowly rose up the ranks in Bollywood to become one of the industry’s biggest pin-up girls. For those wondering about the woman behind the star, catch Tarana Raja Kapoor in an exciting conversation with Malaika on celebrity chat show Let’s Talk this Friday, May 30, 2008 at 7.30 pm IST on glamour and entertainment channel Zoom.

Apart from an interesting peek into her professional and personal life, the bombshell will also speak about her first item number Chaiyya Chaiyya’, alongside Shah Rukh Khan that earned her the ’sex bomb’ tag almost overnight. Also, did you know that Malaika’s classmates in school referred to her as a bunny rabbit, on account of her buck-toothed appearance?

Malaika reveals her fitness secrets and speaks candidly about her decision to marry, which surprised many at the time. She talks about her move to the glamour business, saying, ‘While in college, I was majoring in child psychology. All of this happened rather surprisingly and, like they say, the rest is history.’ There’s another surprise when she speaks about her much-discussed fashion sense. Apparently, Malaika takes the trouble of dressing up only if forced to make a public appearance. At home, she admits to being anything but fashionable.

The conversation turns interesting when Tarana mentions the fact that Malaika proposed to hubby Arbaaz Khan after a five-year courtship. The actress also speaks about her roles as wife, mother and daughter-in-law, saying her family always gets first priority. She says motherhood is the best thing that happened to her and admits to son Arhaan being her biggest weakness.

Be comfortable in what you are wearing:Kim Sharma

She made a promising debut with Mohabbatein and she was talked about more for her itsy-bitsy clothes in the film than for her histrionics.

After working on some eminently forgettable films in the last eight years, the actress is eagerly awaiting the release of her only venture Daddy Cool. A comedy, directed by Indra Kumar, it also stars Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Tulip Joshi, Aashish Chaudhary and Jaaved Jaaferi. How is it that she has only one film in her kitty? “I believe in working on one film at a time,” she is quick to explain.

The pretty actress has spent a considerable time growing up in Pune, and since her parents’ live here, she visits the city often. And, there are quite a few things she loves to do when she’s in the city. “I enjoy spending time with my parents; we go to the Turf Club quite often, and I also love the food of a few restaurants in the city,” says Kim.

Asked whether she likes Pune better or Mumbai, she says diplomatically, “Pune is almost like home since I’ve spent a fair amount of my time here, but Mumbai is home and that’s where my work is. So, both the cities are really different for me and I can’t compare them.”

Kim is always seen making a style statement and the lady loves to go on shopping sprees. Her recent extravagant shopping spree took place in Bangkok while shooting for Loot. Though she loves to splurge on shopping, her sincere word of advise to the fashionistas is: “Be comfortable in what you are wearing. That is most important.”

With all the buzz surrounding fitness, what’s her take on it? “I work out regularly. I think fitness is very essential. It’s great that it’s no longer restricted to the film stars and models. Today, everyone is giving importance to getting into shape and staying fit,” says she.

After all, there is such a big need to zero in on size zero, right?

I know how to battle stress: Tisca

I think stress comes from confusion. A lot of mental energy is wasted in doubts and fears that lurk in the depths of one’s life. I became a Buddhist many years ago when I was very confused about wanting to be an actor or not. I was told by a family friend to start chanting the mantra ‘ Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo (I bow to the law of cause and effect)’. From that very day, I found my doubts becoming lighter and clearer. I found a perspective that I did not have before.

Over a period of time, as I read Buddhist texts, I became clear about why I am here on this planet and what I want to achieve with this great gift called life. I know now that I am here to lead a life of great and immense joy and help others to become happy.

    What gives me happiness

Happiness to me means being surrounded by my near and dear ones, doing good, quality work and overcoming my weaknesses. In fact, every time I face a problem that seems insurmountable or people who are hard to deal with, after the initial negative reaction, I chant to be able to see the potential in that situation and what it is trying to teach me. Inevitably, it is not the situation or people that are irritating, but me who is getting irritated.

Now, with the ball back in my court, I can’t change other people but I can change my own reactions. And I immediately get rid of stress because the situation in my control. For me, working for the happiness of others and leading a life that contributes to theirs is a stress buster. When life becomes focuses on I-me-myself, then there is maximum stress!

The work I do also follows the same note – it must add value to society, a new way to think perhaps. Taare Zameen Par did that and my next film In Such Times will also do that, I’m sure.

    Udita’s puppy love!

There is more to Udita Goswami than stunning looks.

The big screen beauty has a heart of gold. A close friend revealed that the Paap star really feels for stray canines. The friend stated that, she was restless all throughout the shooting, thanks to a stray dog who almost got run over and hurt its paw in the process.

Udita rushed home from her shoot and not only did she feed the dog, but also gave him a pain killer and nursed him back to health… Hope Ms Maneka Gandhi is reading this!
