What is in a name ?
Mallika Sherawat
Born Reema Lamba, she changed her name with both confidence and prescience, choosing the name because it means ‘Empress.’ Sherawat is her mother’s maiden name. Not that there’s anything wrong with the name Reema, but the way she towers over industry standards makes the Mallika name perfectly appropriate
Yana Gupta

This one isn’t technically a change of name, but then any excuse for sticking Yana into the middle of a babes-only slideshow works, doesn’t it? Born Jana Synkova, the Czech girl took on the Gupta tag after her wedding to painter Satyakam Gupta, and sticks to it despite their formal separation in 2005.
Nagma
Born Nandita Morarji, Nagma hit peak in the 1990s, when she dominated Tamil Cinema. Earlier, her Bollywood innings opened strongly, her Salman-starrer debut Baaghi emerging as a huge hit. Yet she shifted to Tamil and Telugu cinema, and her Tamil Nadu fans even erected a temple in her honour. Nowadays, she’s a major star in Bhojpuri cinema.
Mahima Choudhary
When Subhash Ghai launched Ritu Choudhury, she was quick to change her name — since the showman had made stars out of actresses with names starting with M, like Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala. Pardes was a big smash, but despite some brief bursts of success in the late 90s, her career never quite took off. Guess the M wasn’t enough
Neha
Shabana Raza was working on her first film, Kareeb, when director Vidhu Vinod Chopra started constantly referring to her by the name of her character, Neha. The name stuck and he even credited her as Neha, and things. Neha married Manoj Bajpai in 2005.
Mandakini
Born to an English father and a Muslim mother, Yasmeen Roy made her debut with Raj Kapoor’s much-criticised Ram Teri Ganga Maili when she was just 16. She had a couple of hits — like Dance Dance opposite Mithun Chakraborty — but nothing could capture the public’s interest like the wet white sari she wore in her first film.
Madhubala
Born Mumtaz Begum Jehan Dehlavi to a Pashtun family, she was the fifth of eleven children. Starting her career at the age of nine, Mumtaz worked as a successful child artiste for several years until she blossomed into a fine beauty and actress Devika Rani advised her to change her name to Madhubala. The change came into effect with Neel Kamal, where she starred opposite Raj Kapoor. She was fourteen, and the critical applause was deafening. The rest, of course, is history.
Meena Kumari
Mahjabeen Bano was the third daughter born to Sunni Muslim parents. Her mother used to be a stage actress and dancer, and following Mahjabeen’s birth, her father was trying to break into movies. Mahjabeen was ushered into the profession as a child artiste, billed as ‘Baby Meena.’ By the time she grew older — and her name naturally progressed from Baby to Lady Meena — she was the sole breadwinner for the family.
Rekha
Born to Tamil acting legend Gemini Ganesan and Telugu actress Pushpavalli, Bhanurekha Ganesan did not reveal her origins until the mid-70s, when she was trying to break into Bollywood. She did phenomenally well through the end-70s and the 80s, doing memorably with many a superhit opposite Amitabh Bachchan
Jaya Prada
Born Lalita Rani to the family of a Telugu film financier, she was 14 when a dance recital at her school led to an impressed producer offering her a musical number in Telugu film Bhoomi Kosam. The rushes of that 3-minute song were enough for other big name filmmakers to start approaching her, and she emerged as a great southern star of the 70s. Hindi success came to her in the 80s, and director Satyajit Ray called her one of the prettiest women in the world.
Deepika got to taste success in her very first film but Ranbir missed the opportunity

Though marriage is not on the cards at the moment, sensational Deepika Padukone has already started to knit wishes as where she will go for honeymoon with beau Ranbir. Her ardent desire is to go to Italy. She had discovered some exotic location in Italy while shooting for Bachna Ae Haseeno. During the shooting, she traveled many places but found Italy the most exciting and happening place.
She had a 10 day shoot of a romantic number Khuda Jaane in Italy with Ranbir and for that one song they had traveled almost all the beautiful locations of the country. With Ranbir, she had ventured Sydney and many other foreign locales. Most part of the film is shot in Sydney and they had spent 25 days there. Deepika got to taste success in her very first film but Ranbir missed the opportunity and so she keenly wanted Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno to be a grand success. She is pinning high hopes for the film.
It also stars Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lambha alongside Ranbir and Deepika.
Asin’s had her own choice and she preferred to give away the opportunity to work along with Akshay

Tamil sensation Asin who is touted to be Bollywood’s future Rekha and Hema Malini has walked out of Priyadarshan comic-caper Aise Ko Taisa. In this film, Asin was to share screen space with two more heroines and it seemed this idea did not go well with her as she is habituated to play only prime character. She is also the main female protagonist in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and Salman Khan-Ajay Devgan starrer London Dreams.
In Aise Ko Taisa, Asin was to play Akshay’s leading lady. Akshay is one of the foremost stars of Bollywood and every heroines desires to work with him but Asin’s had her own choice and she preferred to give away the opportunity to work along with him.
However, Priyadarshan remarked, "The Akshay film is a three-heroine project. I don’t think Asin would be comfortable with that. My producers Venus are looking into the matter of the heroines. We start shooting in November. So we’ve ample time to find the girls."
I have not raised my security under fear of these terrorist attacks-Aamir Khan

He also added that the government is in a severe crisis and and we must support our government at this period and should face the situation boldly. “I have not raised my security under fear of these terrorist attacks. My life is normal and I expect the same from the people as handful of people cannot shake our faith. Life must go on as normal,” said the actor.

I like doing challenging films. I did a lot of research for Taare Zameen Par and Sarfarosh. While playing the IPS officer in Sarfarosh, I realized how tough their job is.”
Rani Mukherjee has agreed to star in her brother, Raja’s debut Bollywood flic

According to a source, “Raja isn’t only directing; he has also given inputs in scripting. Ishaan Dutta, who got his first break in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein, writes the story. It’s a love story and is more like an urban DDLJ. The scripting is almost complete, and Javed Akhtar has been roped in for the dialogues. The movie is expected to go on floors early next year. Major portions of the movie will be shot in Bali. The first half of the movie is about travelling.”
The source further adds, “Raja’s first option is always Rani. He surely wants ghar ka talent. The male leads taken into consideration are Shahid Kapur and John Abraham. Priyanka Chopra is also the second option for casting.”
Amitabh and Sridevi had earlier created onscreen magic in Inquilab
Cine-goers have been denied the pleasure of watching the yesteryear
superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi onscreen, yet again, in a Yash
Raj Film. News has it that the gorgeous actress Sridevi has refused
the role under the pressure of her husband Boney Kapoor.
Yash Chopra had planned a film keeping in mind Sridevi and Amitabh
Bachchan in lead roles, to revive the glory of old days. The Big B was
reportedly very enthusiastic about the venture and had readily agreed
to it. “Amar Singh tried to convince Boney to let Sridevi act in
Yash’s film. Boney still did not relent,” a source revealed.
Reports suggest that the actress refused the film because her husband
Boney Kapoor wanted her to star in a home production rather than
venture outside. However, Boney has rubbished the reports. “I did not
tell Yashji that I will be making Sridevi’s comeback film,” he said.
He stated that Yash Chopra had indeed a planned a film keeping Sridevi
and Big B in mind but the film did not happen due to some other
reason.
No other actress has been approached because no one apart from Sridevi
would have not suited the role. Yash Chopra has now put the project on
the backburner when things did not work out with Sridevi.
Amitabh and Sridevi had earlier created onscreen magic in Inquilab,
Aakhri Raasta, and Khuda Gawah. Sridevi’s last film Judaai (1997) left
the audience wanting for more. However, Boney Kapoor has not ruled out
the return of Sridevi and that comes as a bit of relief
Ramu will meet his audience with his new black magic film Phoonk

Being the talk of the town with his films to the link ups with all his leading ladies, Ramgopal Verma for sometimes now isn’t able to entertain the viewers with his films, the way he was known for in the past. Now in order to catch hold of his audiences Ramu once again is sticking to his favourite journo of films. Yes we are talking about ghost and spirits. This time Ramu will meet his audience with his new black magic film Phoonk. Before that we have tried to talk to him about his films and many more.
Q. Why again back to your favourite topic?
A. These all are you peoples point of view. I have never said that it is my favourite topic. But yes I do agree that horror things attract me most but Phoonk is different from all my previous horror films. More than horror this film is based on your belief. Black magic is being used as the main part of the film. If you want to harm someone then with black magic you can harm the person without coming in front of him. Actually black magic is a challenge to God’s power and existence.
Q. Normally black magic inspires superstition. Don’t you feel somewhere or the other you are giving rise to superstition?
A. See I agree with you that believing in black magic is like giving rise to superstition. But in this film black magic is being given importance somewhere and somewhere not. Like for example in films we use special effects to make the presence felt of the ghost which entertains you. Then you don’t think that whether ghosts really exists or not and whether you are heading towards superstition.
Q. Black magic, ghost and spirits, do you believe in all these?
A. No, I don’t believe in all these at all. But I can’t say this with surety as I don’t have any logic or experience of not believing in it. But yes as I have a little bit knowledge of film making so I try to entertain my audiences through my films keeping those things as the centre point. I know some people who have had ghostly experiences but I have no intention or reason to prove them wrong or right. As for example two people are watching a magic show. One of them will really believe in it and call it magic but the other will call it a mere trick though both of them have no reason for all these.
Q. It is believed that a person makes a film the way his mental state is, what you think about it?
A. You will be surprised but yes after making so many horror films I have lost faith from fear for ever. It’s a fact that when there is no fear then you have no more options left to work in. Isn’t it?
Q. What is the reason to keep a child in the main lead?
A. See the combination of an adult is different from that of a child. We won’t be sympathetic towards an adult if some problem falls on him more than what we will have for a child.
Q. According to you what effect will this film have on children?
A. Personally I don’t think there is any relation between children and horror but the effect children leaves in horror films is not that much with adult. I think the reason is their innocence. Fear is something which does not come according to your age, background or your education but it has its own way.
Q. Were you afraid of ghost stories when you were a child?
A. (laughs) I am still afraid of it.
Q. Any special reason of keeping the title of this film as Phoonk?
A. No special reason for it. But I have taken the title from the fact that people knows about black magic as “kala jadu-jhad phoonk”. When I was talking with someone about black magic then these words were used by the person. After listening to it I really liked the word Phoonk because this one word has many different meaning.
Q. Where in one hand you are working with the Bachchans and on the other you are working with new comers. You have worked with children in most of your films, so how was it working with them?
A. See every topic has its own requirements. And at the same time when something unbelievable happens with simple family then people watch it attaching themselves to it. In some films the characters are not so important for the audiences then the film and its story.
Q. Did it ever happen that you have to behave differently for these three kinds of people?
A. No, nothing like that happened because once you come in front of the camera an artist whether small or big becomes an artist and nothing else.
Q. Cinema or life both have different colors but why is your favorite color grey and nothing else?
A. It is not my well thought out plan. But yes more than light romantic films I am attracted more towards serious and larger than life kind of topics. Being a director I like taking challenges. It’s not that I have not made films which had beautiful colors of life. Rangeela and Mast are examples of those kinds of films.
Q. How do you feel when a film gets hit or flop?
A. Since I am in this industry for 18 years now so hit or flop doesn’t effect me that much. Yes my film getting hit or flop excites the media a lot. A lot of time and decisions have to be taken before a film gets made. So when some decisions gets wrong and when not is very difficult to say. But I don’t understand one thing that how a director cannot make out after working on a film for more than a year that it is a flop film while the viewers does so in only two and half hours.
Q. From Urmila to Nisha Kothari your name is linked with every lead actress of yours, how do you take all these things?
A. (laughs) If that gives entertainment to the media then what I can do. I always go against all these but you better know that media will write whatever they want to write.
Q. Tell us something about your upcoming projects…
A. Right now I will be making a film on Veerappan. Apart from this I am working on other stories also. If I get a chance I will make Sholay once again.

Mallika Sherawat has worn the lingerie over and not under her clothing

Mallika Sherawat is at it again! She is Hot, she is bombshell and she is super sexy.Believe it or not but the lady has come up with an outrageous act in her Friday release UGLY AUR PAGLI. She has gone ahead and worn tiny-miny two piece lingerie in the film. So what is really shocking about this? After all she has done this in quite a few movies of her so far.
Well, the shocking part is that this time around she has done so in full public view and even walked the city roads while wearing one. Secondly (and something which is quite funny and amusing), she has done so in a manner in which only she can. How exactly? Well, she has worn the lingerie over and not under her clothing! Bizarre, but true!
