That stars often land themselves in social controversies while espousing a social cause or casually talking about their personal experiences is well known. However, the repercussions of the same on the said star’s popularity seem to have dawned upon Saif Ali Khan a little late.
Post-the Tashan hoopla, the actor was back in news last week after he admitted in the media that he wasn’t able to buy a house in Mumbai owing to his religious preferences. Now with one of the top-notch stars confirming communal bias in what is considered to be the country’s biggest metropolitan, a social debate that followed was inevitable.
However, just when we thought that Bollywood was finally getting vocal about social issues, Saif has now gone ahead and done a U-turn on his statement. When asked by Indiatimes Movies to confirm his statement at a recent press conference in the city, the actor blatantly replied, “I never made a statement saying that I wasn’t able to buy a house because I am a Muslim. The stories doing the rounds in media are not a true account of my statement.”
Further, when asked what Saif thought about the existence of communal bias when it comes to residential properties, the Chhote Nawab stirred clear of controversies by saying, “It is an extremely sensitive issue. I prefer not to comment on the subject since it could have severe social and cultural repercussions.”
Now, while we agree with Saif that the statement could lead to a furor in the media and trigger off a social debate, isn’t it important to bring truth to light if real? Or would that mean upsetting half a dozen advertisers who bank on the Chhote Nawab’s ‘cute, clean-chit’ image to appease millions?

There have been rumours of Sonam Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor seeing each other but there was no official spotting until now. The couple, however, was seen flaunting their relationship at a suburban theatre catching up on the latest flick, ‘The Dark Knight’.
Sources reveal that the duo walked in the theatre hand in hand and sat close in the last row, loving each other`s company. An eyewitness says that Bollywood heartthrob Kunal was sitting with his arms around the delicate darling Sonam’s shoulders.
The couple reportedly left the place a little early to apparently keep away from the onlookers.
Well, we guess the newly found love Kunal, unlike Ranbir, is Sonam’s type!

Buzz is very strong in the industry circles that the King Khan and Bachchan Jr. are all set to clash in coming November. And this is because Shahrukh’s BILLOO BARBER, which was set for a Diwali release on October 24th, is now postponed for a November 14th release. Coincidentally Karan Johar’s much-awaited Abhishek-John-priyanka starrer DOSTANA is also set to hit the screens on the same day.
Interestingly both the films have friendship as the common theme.
BILLOO BARBER is based on two friends - one a super star (SRK) and the other a poor barber (Irrfan Khan) staying in a remote village. BILLOO BARBER features Shahrukh opposite two heroines - Deepika and Kareena Kapoor whereas Lara Dutta plays Irrfan’s wife. The hot item song picturised on Kareena and Shah Rukh is supposed to be the highlight of the film.
Karan Johar’s Tarun Mansukhani directed DOSTANA is also based on two best friends. John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan play best friends who are willing to do anything for each another. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol as the lead stars. The flick also has one item track featuring the gorgeous Shilpa Shetty dancing on the beaches of Miami along with John and Abhishek.

Though Bollywood’s new chocolate hero Ranbir Kapoor admires his father immensely, he is uncomfortable with people judging his mother.
Ranbir is the son of yesteryears’ stars Neetu and Rishi Kapoor.
“My mother is very biased towards me. My parents always wanted me to learn moralistic values. As a child and even now, I have been a big fan of my father’s films.
“I have watched my mom’s films, but I was not comfortable. People would judge her and I don’t like anyone else judging my mother. I am possessive about her.”
Ranbir is being appreciated for his film “Bachna Ae Haseeno” in which he serenades his real life girlfriend Deepika Padukone. The other two actresses he romances in the film are Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu.

So was Saif Ali Khan ’s birthday party at Four Seasons in Worli on August 16. Thankfully, there were no spats in this party. Only a long due truce between Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu .
Bachcha bachcha in Bollywood knows about the seven-year-old long chill between Bebo and Bips. It began on the sets of Ajnabee , continued with Kareena making a dig at John Abraham (she called him ‘expressionless’) on Karan Johar ’s show and Bipasha making an unflattering remark (she called Bebo an actress with ‘too many expressions’) about Kareena.
But Saif’s birthday party was an occasion to let bygones be bygones, bury the hatchet, patch up and blah…blah…blah. It is learnt that Kareena personally invited Bipasha for the party. Bipasha was surprised to hear from Bebo and gladly accepted the invitation. And when Bipasha did make an entry at the party, many an eyeball were left popping out.Reports say neither of the two actresses showed any awkwardness in breaking the ice and warming up. The two simply got talking. Interestingly, Saif had invited Shahrukh and Salman as well. While SRK attended with wife Gauri, Arbaaz Khan made up for brother Salman’s absence.

Farah says that she has not alienated herself from friends and relatives.
Farah Khan just can’t seem to get enough of leading a busy life. After directing Om Shanti Om and delivering triplets, she is ready to make her next film, Happy New Year. When she had made Om Shanti Om, the buzz was that she had only changed the film’s title from Happy New Year to Om Shanti Om. But those were just rumours, as Farah is now ready to finally make Happy New Year. The film is likely to go on the floors in 2009 and will be produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Red Chillies recently re-registered the title, Happy New Year. Farah confirmed and said, “Yes, I am finally going ahead with Happy New Year. We have made some changes in the earlier script. The truth is, I wanted to make Happy New Year before Om Shanti Om, but I wasn’t ready with the script then.
Om Shanti Om’s script fell into place and things started to roll. So we made Om Shanti Om first.” Needless to say, Shah Rukh will play the central character in the film. However, Farah did not reveal any more names for the film’s star cast. “I plan to have an interesting cast along with Shah Rukh. But, I still haven’t decided how many of the actors will be established and how many will be newcomers,” said Farah
.
Farah added, “The first half of the script for Happy New Year is ready. Shirish (her husband) has helped me a lot with the film’s script.” So what is Happy New Year about? “Oh well, I can’t say much about the film at this point of time. But yes, it will be my kind of cinema. I don’t want to prove a point to anybody. Happy New Year will be a commercial entertainer,” she said. Farah is currently busy completing the script in her sprawling house at Seven Bungalows, Versova. “I am not going to exotic places to write the story. And while I am busy with the script, I am concentrating on my babies too,” Farah laughed and added.Talking about her routine after she gave birth to triplets - Anya, Diva, Czar- six months ago, Farah says that she has not alienated herself from friends and relatives.
“I catch up with Shah Rukh and Karan (Johar) often. Recently, Shah Rukh was shooting at Yash Raj Studios and I dropped by to visit him with Anya, Diva and Czar in tow. Of course, I had also taken three of my maids, who I have for my kids. It was good fun,” said Farah. Later this week, Farah will choreograph a dance number featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham for Karan Johar’s upcoming film, Dostana. She said, “Karan wanted me to do a song in Dostana. Moreover, I had promised Tarun Mansukhani (Dostana’s director) that I will choreograph a song in the first film which he will direct.” The shoot will last for five-six days. “In fact, Karan made a very sweet offer to have a huge vanity van for me, with all the facilities, so that I can take my babies along with me. But they’ll remain at home. I’ll reach the sets by 10.30 am and leave by 6 pm every day,” added Farah.

The movie Rang De Basanti which was released in the air 2006 presented an interesting concoction of two epochs. The story revolved around different individuals and their aspirations. In it an endeavor was made to compare and contrast the lives of the characters to show that they still amongst us and are in the middle of some identity crisis. The movie also threw some light on the falling standards of the youth where the characters were shown guzzling down beer down their throats and forgetting the contribution made by the freedom fighters in their frivolity. These movies also allowed the viewers to pry into the lives of Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla Khan.
The iron willed Mahatma Gandhi was often presented in several movies sporting his trade mark smile and kind demeanor. His portrayal in the movie ’Gandhi’ starring ’Ben Kingsley’ won plaudits for his impeccable storyline and a resplendent performance given by Ben . He appeared again much after his death to do what he did the best. In the era of freedom struggle he guided India to freedom. Even this time in the movie ’Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ he did the same by rescuing some troubled minds including the protagonist’s mind’s from inner fetters of ego, superstitions etc.
